Code Coven, the award winning game development classroom and accelerator has joined forces with Games Industry Africa to empower aspiring game developers across the African continent.

The news follows on the heels of the announcement that Code Coven was a recipient of the Unity Charitable Fund Grant.

Speaking on the partnership, GIA founder, Vic Bassey said, “Whilst the availability of tools and services has seen an upturn in the level of creative output, the need for a guided curriculum and mentorship into game development has never been more sought after. Especially for a region keen to make its mark on the international games industry.

Additionally, Code Coven’s team of seasoned experts will help the next generation of developers navigate international relationships based on their value and less on tokenism.

Games Industry Africa has been built on a pillar that supports the current and future generation of developers across the African continent. Code Coven strongly believes in the missions of both of these organisations.

Improving diversity in the games industry isn’t just about having more representation in the media, it’s about putting the power in the hands of diverse leaders. By reserving these seats for our partnered communities, we’re uplifting authentic representation in our application selection process. Each and every community has unique lived experiences, and we want our process to reflect that,” Tara Mustapha CEO and Founder of Code Coven.
