Moroccan indie developer AJB Games Studio is celebrating a milestone with the release of Martha’s Dolls 2, the sequel to its viral horror hit, after the game earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam within its first days of launch.
The game officially launched on Steam on September 1, 2026, continuing the story first introduced in 2024’s Martha’s Dolls, which went on to win Best Moroccan Game at the LGaming Awards 2025. The sequel returns players to the decaying halls of Martha’s House, this time cast as an urban explorer drawn in by local legend and a growing obsession with the “Disappeared” — those who ventured in before and never made it out. The porcelain dolls that made the original a standout are back too, described by the developer as having “learned” from players’ last visit. Martha’s Dolls 2 builds on a body of work that has become one of the more recognisable names in African-made horror gaming, following the original Martha’s Dolls, BOKKIE, and UNCURSED.
Studio founder Ayman Jbari shared the news on social media, calling the reception “incredible.” Despite being a short, focused experience of around 45 minutes, he noted that Martha’s Dolls 2 became his first project to cross into “Very Positive” territory on Steam, citing 73 positive reviews out of 77 at the time of posting.
“As a developer, seeing players genuinely connect with something you’ve built is the ultimate reward,” Jbari wrote. He added that the response reinforced a lesson about scope versus design: “Sometimes a short, atmospheric experience hits harder than a long one, and seeing players enjoy the atmosphere, puzzles, and jumpscares proves that scope isn’t everything when the core design lands right.”
He thanked the community for playing, leaving feedback, and supporting the launch, encouraging fans of short-form indie horror to check the game out on Steam.
