Maliyo Games is inviting game developers, creators and studio founders across Africa to participate in the 2026 Africa Game Developer Survey, an initiative designed to provide a clearer picture of the continent’s evolving games industry.
The survey, now in its fifth year, is the data backbone of the Africa Games Industry Report, the annual publication that has become one of the sector’s most cited references for tracking how African game development is growing, and where it still needs support.
“Across the continent, developers are building new studios, launching games, experimenting with emerging technologies, accessing new funding opportunities and taking African-made games to audiences around the world,” Maliyo Games said in announcing the survey. “But to understand where the industry is going, we first need to understand what is happening on the ground.”
The report provides valuable context for investors, policymakers, gaming platforms, development organisations and international industry stakeholders seeking to understand the opportunities and challenges facing African developers.
From the growth of independent studios to the emergence of new markets, funding initiatives and export opportunities, the survey offers developers an opportunity to contribute directly to how the industry is represented.
