South African developer Pineapple on Pizza Studios has offered the first look at its latest and most ambitious project to date, Atonement of Adam, a third-person action shooter that reimagines Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus through an alternate-history setting.
In Atonement of Adam, players take on the role of Adam, Frankenstein’s Monster, navigating a reimagined early 2000s London that has been under the rule of Professor Victor Frankenstein for almost two centuries. Having sealed off the city and transformed its population into an army of the undead, Frankenstein is now setting his sights on expanding his control across the globe. Standing in his way is his own creation, driven by a mission that the studio describes as one “of Vengeance, of Redemption, of Atonement.”
The announcement arrives ahead of two major industry events, with Pineapple on Pizza confirming that this reveal is intended largely as a marker of the project’s existence rather than a full unveiling.
“This is more a proof of existence in the lead-up to Gamescom and XDS 2026, which we’ll be attending,” the studio’s founder and project lead Kushal Jeethendra Sithlu said. “We’re looking at having gameplay and a lot more details around mid-September, after these events.”
On the technical side, the team confirmed that Atonement of Adam is being built in Unreal Engine 5 for PC, with controller support built in from the outset to lay the groundwork for a possible future console release. The project has also been accepted into Xbox Game Camp 2026, a further signal of the ambition behind the title.
Despite the momentum, Pineapple on Pizza was clear that the game remains in the early stages of development. “We’re in early development right now, expecting a full demo only around mid next year,” the founder and project lead added.
For now, details on the game, its team, and upcoming playtests remain under wraps, but the studio has promised more to come in the weeks ahead with a fuller picture, including gameplay, expected to follow Gamescom and XDS 2026 in September.
