Jiwe IO has launched its first live crowdfunding campaign, marking an important step in the platform’s effort to create new ways for African game developers to receive direct public support around clear development goals.
The first campaign on the platform is for Ma3 Simulator, a game inspired by Nairobi’s matatu culture. The campaign is raising support for the next game update, which aims to add 2 more buses and 10 more routes. The campaign is being run by developer Zawadi Games led by Kennedy Kimeu through Jiwe IO’s new developer support functionality, which is designed to help creators rally community backing around specific milestones in their projects.
For Jiwe IO, this first campaign is not only about one game. It is also an early demonstration of a wider model the platform is building: one in which African game developers can do more than simply publish their work. They can also build visible, structured, community-backed support around the continued growth of their projects.
About Ma3 Simulator
Ma3 Simulator is inspired by Nairobi’s matatu culture — one of the city’s most recognizable and dynamic expressions of urban life. The campaign focuses on helping fund the next stage of development for the game through concrete additions that supporters can easily understand: more buses and more routes.
About Jiwe IO
Jiwe IO is a platform within the broader Jiwe ecosystem that supports African game developers and creative digital projects through infrastructure for visibility, community engagement, and monetization. Its goal is to help creators move beyond informal support models by creating more structured pathways for communities to back their work. The launch of Ma3 Simulator’s campaign represents the first live use of Jiwe IO’s crowdfunding functionality, giving both creators and supporters an early example of how the platform can be used to back specific development goals.
A Milestone-Based Approach to Crowdfunding
Unlike many crowdfunding campaigns that focus only on completing a brand-new product, the Ma3 Simulator campaign is designed to support a specific update milestone within an existing game. Jiwe IO sees this as part of its unique approach: allowing developers to raise support not only for launching a game, but also for improving, extending, or updating it in response to community interest and creative momentum.
This milestone-based structure is intended to make campaigns more tangible for supporters, while helping developers build momentum incrementally rather than waiting for one large all-or-nothing funding moment.
