Games for Change Africa (G4C Africa) has announced its participation in the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, taking place from 2-5 October, 2024. This year’s event will spotlight the power of digital games and immersive media to drive social impact across the continent. G4C Africa’s presence at Fak’ugesi will offer a platform for thought leaders, innovators, and industry experts to collaborate on addressing some of Africa’s most pressing challenges— from education and healthcare to sustainability and economic inclusion.

Featured activities include:
October 2: Game-Changers Gathering (Invite-Only)
This exclusive gathering will unite industry leaders, social innovators, and digital media experts to explore how games can play a leading role in shaping Africa’s future, spark inclusive growth, and empower a new generation of Africans to thrive and lead in the global digital economy.
October 3: Conference on Games for Impact
Panels, lightning talks, and a fireside chat will feature key figures such as Lisa Adams, Maxine Lea Nel, Darko Petrovic, Ulrico Grech-Cumbo, Janet du Preez and Kieran Reid. Sessions will explore how games are addressing global challenges, including education, healthcare, sustainability and civic issues.
October 4: Immersive Arcade and Awards Ceremony
Attendees can experience cutting-edge VR and AR projects in the Immersive Arcade, including works from leaders such as Sea Monster and Get Well Pals, showcasing how immersive media can inspire behaviour change and social action. The evening will conclude with the prestigious Fak’ugesi Awards Ceremony, featuring the new Game for Impact category, which recognises games driving change in education, community engagement, and social development.
October 5: Kids Workshop: Make a Game, Impact the Future
This interactive workshop will encourage children to become game designers and changemakers, developing game-based solutions to tackle real-world challenges. The workshop emphasises creativity and collaboration, making it accessible to all.
