Women Game Jam is making its way to Zambia. Spearheaded by Sithe Ncube who has been a pivotal figure in spotlighting female creators in the African gaming space over the years, the event will take the form of a game development marathon where participants are challenged to plan and create a digital or analog game, based on a theme that will remain shrouded in mystery until the start of the event.

This kind of event offers the ideal environment to learn, create a portfolio, and strenghten under-represented gamedev communities.
This year, due to the spread of Covid 19, the Women Game Jam will be hosted online. The theme will be announced on the first day of the event and all groups will have 10 days (from the 21st to the 30th August) to create a game inspired by the theme. At the end of the event, each group will upload their game to Women Game Jam’s itch.io page, where every jammer will be able to enjoy the games of the other participants.
Zambia’s event will take place from the 20th to the 22nd August 2021 with online workshops hosted from the 16th to the 19th August 2021. Registration to Women Game Jam Zambia can be done here.
