Amidst the glitz, glamour, congratulatory back slaps and accolades that have become synonymous with The Game Awards, Lual Mayen returned to a the global gaming stage to present an update on his latest project – Salaam.

Lual Mayen is a South Sudan developer based in Washington DC, who rose to international acclaim a year ago after he was featured in The Game Awards special segment – Global Gaming Citizen, which featured rising luminaries from the world of gaming.

This time around, apart from briefly touching on his background and inspiration, he was also able to unveil details of his game – Salaam which sheds light on the refugee experience through the medium of games.

Under the umbrella of his studio, Junub Games, Salaam will be flown under the Facebook Gaming banner and is scheduled for release in the summer of 2020. Furthermore, Lual has stated that all proceeds generated from in-game micro-transactions will be reinvested into bettering the lives of refugees.
