Egyptian indie studio Gilded Games has revealed Crown’s Trial, an ambitious fantasy Souls-like boss rush that will take players across different worlds, eras and combat experiences as they face legendary heroes from across time.

Currently in development for PC, with a Steam release planned for Q4 2026, Crown’s Trial is the debut project from the Egyptian two-brother development team behind Gilded Games.

At the heart of the game is a simple premise: players must overcome a series of legendary opponents, but they are given complete freedom over which boss to challenge first.

Rather than progressing through a traditional linear campaign, each encounter transports players into a distinct world with its own visual identity, mechanics and abilities.

“It’s our first game, hopefully more to come,” said Karim William of Gilded Games. “We learned so much making it. If we can get it released and some people enjoy playing it, that would be awesome.”

Alongside its combat-focused structure, Crown’s Trial will feature a fully voiced and illustrated narrative.

The story aims to give players greater insight into the game’s legendary figures, with illustrated sequences focusing on crucial moments in each character’s story and helping establish the context behind their encounters with the player.

Gilded Games describes itself simply as two brothers from Egypt who have been gaming since childhood and are now pursuing their dream of creating games themselves.

Crown’s Trial represents their first commercial game project. The studio has yet to announce a specific release date nor price point, but Crown’s Trial is currently targeting Q4 2026 on PC via Steam.
