A trio of Egyptian game development studios spearheaded by Agora took the top three prizes in the gaming track at the African App Launchpad Cup.
Sharing a cash prize pool of US$30,000, Agora topped winnings of US$15,000, second place, Alkottab Game Studio took home US$10,000 for the second prize, and Arcanium Studios came third with US$5,000.
The event is a subset of the African App Launchpad (AAL) initiative, which is an Africa-wide platform aiming to inspire the younger generation from the African continent as well as foster the establishment of sustainable startups in the area of game technologies.
The unique competition is a collaboration with Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA); and included early-stage startups from 19 different countries competition.
