Jennifer Lufau and Ubisoft alumni Mickaël Newton have announced the launch of NARRATIFY, a consulting and events agency working with video game studios and creators. The company’s stated objectives are to provide cultural authenticity consulting to international studios and to support the visibility of African video game creators in global markets.

NARRATIFY positions its work around two areas: supporting African creators in strengthening their professional visibility and credibility, and facilitating collaborations between international studios and African developers, artists, and cultural experts with the aim of improving the accuracy and consistency of in-game representations.

Afro Game Showcase announcement

The company has announced the launch of the Afro Game Showcase, an online event dedicated to video games developed by African and diaspora studios for mobile, PC, and console platforms. The event is designed for an international audience and will feature projects that are currently in development or not widely known.

The showcase is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, with the date to be announced. Applications from interested studios are currently open via an online form.

Founders’ professional backgrounds

Jennifer Lufau, a French-Beninese professional, is the founder of Afrogameuses, a community focused on francophone African and Afro-descendant women gamers and creators. She has worked as a video game journalist and has collaborated with studios on issues related to representation and cultural authenticity.

Mickaël Newton, who is of African diaspora origin from the French West Indies, spent 12 years at Ubisoft’s international headquarters. His roles included editorial work as well as initiatives related to social impact, education, and charitable programs. In 2024, he was named Personality of the Year at the Pégases.

Ongoing collaborations and partnerships

Both founders have participated in industry programs, conferences, and events related to the African video game ecosystem, including Africa Games Week, Lagos Games Week, FEJA, NAICCON, and various game jams and competition juries.

NARRATIFY has also announced a partnership with South African studio Nyamakop and the Maison des Mondes Africains (MansA) in Paris in connection with the planned launch of the game Relooted.
