Africa’s largest game development training program returns, offering free, beginner-friendly courses in Programming, Art, and Audio.
GameUp Africa has announced the launch of its highly anticipated 5th edition, continuing its mission to empower the next generation of African game creators. The flagship talent accelerator bootcamp is designed to equip aspiring developers with the technical skills, creative tools, and industry mentorship needed to break into the global games industry.
Since its inception in 2021, GameUp Africa has received over 5,800 applications from more than 20 African countries, training 1,737 learners in game programming, art, and sound design. The program’s graduates have gone on to build their first games, gain professional opportunities, and contribute to the continent’s growing digital entertainment sector.

This year’s edition runs from September 1 to December 11, 2025, and offers three free, self-paced courses:
- Programming
- Art
- Audio
Entirely remote and project-based, the bootcamp is designed for beginners and early-career creatives, providing a structured but flexible pathway into the games industry. Participants benefit from expert-led training, mentorship, and hands-on experience while joining a vibrant pan-African community of developers.
