Leti Arts Joins Green Games Showcase, Using SWEAVE to Help Plant 50,000 Trees – Launches #LetiGoesGreen Campaign with PlanetPlay.
Leti Arts, the Ghanaian game development studio redefining African digital storytelling, is making global headlines as the first African game studio selected for the Green Games Showcase; a high-profile event at Summer Game Fest 2025 dedicated to environmentally conscious gaming.
This year’s showcase, launched in collaboration with climate-tech nonprofit PlanetPlay, marks a historic milestone for both the gaming industry and the African continent, spotlighting the intersection of cultural innovation and climate action. The initiative aims to plant at least 50,000 trees through verified reforestation efforts, proving the power of games to drive measurable environmental impact. Read more here.
SWEAVE is now officially part of PlanetPlay’s Green Games Activation, making it the first African-made title to participate in a verified tree-planting campaign through gameplay.
Starting June 7th, every SWEAVE download and in-game interaction will contribute directly to tree-planting efforts under the Hongera Project in Kenya, a program focused on restoring biodiversity and uplifting rural communities.

“With SWEAVE, we’re not just telling African stories, we’re taking African leadership global,” said Eyram Tawia, CEO and Co-Founder of Leti Arts. “We’re proud to be at the forefront of green gaming, proving that entertainment from the continent can be culturally rich and environmentally impactful.”
Leti Arts’ month-long #LetiGoesGreen campaign, running throughout June, features:
- A SWEAVE gameplay update directly linking player progress to real-world tree planting.
- A strategic partnership with PlanetPlay and Kenya’s Hongera Project.
- Influencer takeovers, TV/radio features, and social media activations across Africa and beyond.
Players can download SWEAVE on Google Play and the App Store to join the mission and help fund the planting of 50,000 trees by June 30th. This initiative also contributes to broader reforestation efforts in Kenya, supported by Leti Arts through their game Sweave, to support WithOneSeed.
This is what PlanetPlay CEO Rhea Loucas had to say about the Summer Game Fest and the Green Games Showcase:
