A group of gaming academia professionals from South Africa have joined forces to set up their own studio focusing on crafting playful experiences under the name – Two Name Games

Co-founded by Kieran Reid, Tim Flusk, Vuk Vucetic and Kirsten Reid, the group hope to use their wealth of experience within academia and industry to leverage the transformative power of play, games, and design to craft bespoke solutions and create tangible value for their clients.

A statement released on social media by Kieran Reid reads

After teaching for 14 years at Wits Digital Arts, I am happy to announce that I am moving on to new experiences and adventures! Teaching my students has been a profound honour and privilege. I have met so many interesting, talented and delightful people as a teacher. I have learnt so much from all my students. I have seen an industry grow through their dedicated work. Being part of the Digital Arts programme has been exceptional. The students have been truly exceptional! Though I will always love teaching young designers, animators, writers and developers, it is time to move on. I have found the higher education environment in South Africa to be overly bureaucratic and complex. It also does not always serve its primary stakeholders: students. Now, with my playful colleagues Tim Flusk, Vuk Vucetic and Kirsten Reid, we are starting our company – Two Name Games!I believe that in my new position I can continue to grow the South African games industry and continue to mentor and encourage young game makers. I’m also excited to create more playful learning, workplaces and solutions.

At Two Name Games, they believe in the generative power of play to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and unlock new pathways to success.

Their interdisciplinary approach blends cutting-edge research with practical expertise, allowing them to seamlessly navigate the dynamic landscapes of education, entertainment, and beyond. You can follow their journey by visiting their website.
