The 3rd edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo is set to mark a defining moment for the region’s interactive entertainment scene as it proudly welcomes Erin Roberts as Guest of Honour.

Taking place in Rabat from May 20 to 24, 2026, the Expo positions itself as a strategic platform for dialogue, innovation, and international collaboration within the gaming industry, while reinforcing Morocco’s ambition to become a key player on the global stage.

With more than 35 years of experience, Erin Roberts is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in video game development. His career began in the early 1990s at Origin Systems, where he contributed as designer and producer on the iconic Wing Commander franchise. Following the studio’s acquisition by Electronic Arts, he continued to shape ambitious science-fiction worlds as Producer and Game Director on the Privateer series, helping define a generation of space simulation games.

In 1996, Roberts co-founded Digital Anvil in Austin, Texas, a studio later acquired by Microsoft, where he went on to manage major projects for the Xbox Games group. Returning to the United Kingdom in 2005, he founded and directed AAA studios for more than two decades, playing a pivotal role in the creation of the globally successful Lego video games developed by Traveller’s Tales in collaboration with Warner Bros..

For the past 13 years, Erin Roberts has served as Chief Development Officer at Cloud Imperium Games, where he established the UK studio and oversaw its growth into a global organization. Today, he supervises development across four international studios, leading more than 800 developers worldwide and driving production on the ambitious projects Star Citizen and Squadron 42, two of the most closely watched titles in contemporary game development.

Hosting such a figure underscores the strategic vision of the Morocco Gaming Expo and its broader mission to promote the national gaming ecosystem, with a particular focus on Rabat Gaming City. Designed to attract both local and international studios, Rabat Gaming City aims to foster a dynamic cluster of creative and technological talent, generate high-quality employment, and stimulate cultural and social innovation in the capital. The initiative aspires to position Rabat as one of the leading gaming hubs in Africa and the MENA region.

By bringing together global leaders, emerging talent, and institutional stakeholders, the 3rd Morocco Gaming Expo promises not only to celebrate the art and industry of gaming, but also to lay the foundations for a sustainable and influential future for interactive entertainment in Morocco and beyond.
