The Gara store which has been touted as the continents answer to the Google and App Store for game developers has secured its first major agreement by announcing a partnership with French outfit, Plug in Digital.

Speaking on the news, Gara Store founder Teddy Kossoko was keen to tout the significance of this agreement.

“This agreement is very important for the project. This is the first important distribution contract we sign. We now have many good games for the launch of our platform. Also this contact will facilitate the signature of others contracts.”

Plug in Digital is no stranger to collaborating with the African games industry having helped in the distribution of Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan and most recently, in helping bring Senegalese Afro Juggle to market in late 2020.

“Plug In Digital are used to working with African developers, so it was simple to discuss with them. They know the African market and works with all we have to make it profitable for all of us. After a few discussions and contract modifications it was signed,” Teddy added.

“The next step for us is to convince all African indie game developers to send us their games, because African games have a particular place in the platform. We have also to finish the web version of the platform.
Then we have to conclude ongoing discussion with telecom companies. The road is still long but we are confident,” Teddy concluded

Gara is still under construction, but is expected to go live in early 2022.
