Electronic Arts has officially revealed the first cinematic trailer for The Sims 4: Royalty and Legacy, and it is packed with enough lineage drama, seduction, betrayal, and intrigue. More importantly, it features creative contributions from two African studios.
Alongside the intrigue of royal courts, the trailer’s release also marks a significant creative milestone for the franchise. This expansion is part of a broader collaboration between EA and the Pan-African Gaming Group, with African studios playing a direct role in shaping the content. Ghana-based Leti Arts and Kenya- and Nigeria-based Usiku Games contributed to the project, bringing culturally informed perspectives that influenced visual design, character expression, and world-building.
Their involvement represents the first time the Sims franchise has worked so closely with African studios to develop authentic content, setting a new precedent for how global publishers can collaborate with creators from the continent.
Set to launch on February 12 across all platforms, Royalty and Legacy looks far more ambitious than a simple revival of The Sims Medieval. Instead, it positions social climbing and political maneuvering at the heart of the experience, inviting players to guide their Sims as they navigate rival houses and competing bloodlines across Ondarion’s three neighborhoods.
