As part of the lead up to the second Game Camp Africa series of events, Microsoft has formed a joint initiative with the Moroccan government to boost the profile of game development in the country.

Game Camp is an initiative that unifies various Xbox initiatives under one umbrella where talent is celebrated, and game developers are empowered to pursue their dreams.

Last week Xbox Game Camp met with the Moroccan government to outline a plan to support game developers, aspiring and established, in the country by providing access to their global program courses. Furthermore, they are going to run a series of virtual panels and talks on the topic of game development to university students the coming next 12 months.

Reflecting on the agreement on social media, Head of Game Camp, Peter Zetterberg said.

We are looking forward to work with Morocco’s Minister of Youth and Culture mehdi bensaid, Microsoft Africa President Lillian Barnard, Microsoft CEMA Chief Operating Officer Mohamed Mikou, and Microsoft Morocco General Manager Salima Amira to empower game developers in Morocco, and across the African continent.

Registration to Game Camp Africa is now open. Applications close on June 28, 2024. To participate, individuals must be of legal age, reside in any country on the African continent and be studying or working part or full-time in the field of software development, visual arts, 3D, music and audio, web design, narrative design, or professional project management.
