Hosted in February, the GIA Talk: The State of the African Games Industry was an intimate online event that featured a mix of local and international speakers discussing the challenge of getting a full scope of the games industry.

Featuring presentations from Newzoo (Tom Wijman), Steam (Alden Kroll) and Gara Store (Teddy Kossoko).
Newzoo showcased figures on the local ecosystem whilst Steam provided a guide on what it takes for a developer to get ones game on the store front.
Gara Store then contextualized the initial talks with their experience of launching an online store designed to cater to African game developers and creators.

The session can be viewed above.

The next GIA Talk will be this Thursday, April 13th and will feature video game composers Elvira Bjorkman and Mark Allnut exploring the sounds of videogame music.
