In a post marking his 41st birthday, Joinplay CEO shared some insight into the history and current status of his studio.

I founded my first game company (Noohkema Interactive Inc.) in Cameroon in 2016. In 2019, we released our first game, “Afro Warriors: Battle for Power,” which was met with positive reviews from the gaming community. We were also in talks with investors to fund the marketing and LiveOps cycle of the game.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit in January 2020, and investors pulled out of the funding round. I was on the verge of giving up, but I decided to put the project on standby and work on a new one that I could develop with minimal resources during the lockdown.
Thus the Joinplay Games Studios Oy project came to life, a project designed to address the international market while continuing to promote underrepresented cultures and inclusion.
The team relocated the project to Finland in April 2022, and in July we officially incorporated the company. Now we have a solid team and we are part of Platform6 Startup House, a hub in the heart of Tampere run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs; a vibrant ecosystem that is more favorable to the development and expansion of our ambitious project.
With the support of Living Game Intelligence Network, Business Finland, Tampereen kaupunki – City of Tampere, Epic Games and all the partners, we working hard to reach our goal: Become the world’s leading studio for content that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and representativeness of black and Afro-descendant cultures in the video game industry.
