This June, creatives from across Africa and the world will be Hacking for Good in the maiden edition of the E-Africa challenge. The E-Africa Challenge is a week long conference for African Digital Creatives, aimed at raising awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as providing training and support to African creatives who would go further to become ambassadors of the SDGs, as well as launch sustainable projects and startups that promote their visions.

This year, the theme is focused on “Climate change”.

Africa is home to one-third of the world’s tropical rainforests. Though Africa accounts for only 2–3% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions from energy and industrial sources, it is a cruel irony that the continent is in line to be the hardest hit by the resulting climate changes.

The program would feature various informative sessions around climate change , sustainability and entrepreneurship (online short course, workshops, fireside sessions etc ) and a design hackathon to create projects that would help tackle identified issues. The program is set to run from the 21st to 27th, June 2021 in an array of projects ranging from games, animation, videos, art, illustration, XR and more.

We need a high level of awareness to help reduce the effects of climate changes and inspire action. The E-Africa challenge encourages creative problem solving and invites Africa’s digital creatives to become ambassadors of the SDGs.
The E-Africa challenge is organized by Africacomicade in collaboration with a number of organizations including but not limited to jiwe studios, Creatives Nest foundation and Sustory.fi.
