Cape Town based Unsigned Double Collective have been hard at work putting the finishing touches to their first title, Freja and the False Prophecy. The Norse Mythology themed action metroidvania has already garnered some fanfare following their successful crowdfunding campaign as well as their win at the Nordic Game Discovery Contest qualifier in late 2019.
However, after a protracted period of silence the studio has provided some much needed updates to the current development of the game.
New life has been breathed into the games prologue whilst some work has been applied to the combat and the games interface.
“During February we held a concentrated 5 day team workshop to finalise the script, concept art and gameplay for our new prologue. It was incredibly productive and we’re really proud of what the team produced.“
A post to Kickstarter backers stated.
Additionally, the team pointed out that, “Small changes can often make a massive difference when it comes to how an ability feels. A fraction of a second makes a surprisingly big impact during gameplay when everything happens so fast. One of these changes is Freja’s Axe Throw. We altered the timing of the throw, the way the axe spins through the air and updated its trail and particle effects. It’s fast becoming one of our favourite ways to take down Freja’s foes!
